Your 8-Day Journey
From your arrival in Arusha to your final descent into the Ngorongoro Crater -- every day is crafted for maximum wildlife encounters and unforgettable moments across Tanzania's northern circuit.

Arrival and Flight into the Serengeti
Board a premier light aircraft flight from Arusha into the rolling Serengeti plains. Settle into your luxury tented camp in the Seronera Valley, then head out for an afternoon cat-tracking drive as resident lion prides and cheetahs patrol the open grassland.

Seronera Valley Big Cats
A full day exploring the Serengeti's beating heart, home to the highest concentration of predators in the ecosystem. Track lion prides lounging on kopjes, cheetahs scanning the plains, and leopards draped over sausage tree branches along the Seronera River.

Grumeti River Crossings
Transfer into the Western Corridor to track the migration as it pushes toward the Grumeti River. Witness herds gathering along the crocodile-inhabited banks in one of the migration's most dramatic and lesser-visited crossing points, far from the northern crowds.

Northern Serengeti Mara River Crossings
Fly or transfer north to the Kogatende region on the Mara River, where the herds attempt their most treacherous crossings of the entire migration. Spend the day at prime riverside vantage points with your expert guide, watching zebras, wildebeest and gazelles pour across the water.

Full Day Safari and Optional Balloon
Begin with an optional hot air balloon safari at dawn -- float silently over the Serengeti as the sun rises and the herds stir below, followed by a champagne bush breakfast. Then a full day of game driving across the Mara River corridor's best wildlife-viewing areas.

Journey to the Ngorongoro Highlands
Depart the Serengeti and travel south, game viewing en route through the short-grass plains and, in season, the Ndutu calving grounds. Climb into the lush Ngorongoro Highlands, arriving at your lodge perched on the crater rim in time to watch the sun set over the caldera below.

Full Day on the Crater Floor
Descend 600 metres to the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater, the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and home to one of Africa's densest concentrations of wildlife. Spend the full day tracking the crater's resident black rhinos, dense lion prides, hyena clans, and vast herds of zebra and wildebeest against a backdrop of towering crater walls.

Final Crater Rim Views and Departure
Wake to sweeping views over the crater from your lodge before a relaxed final morning. Depart along the scenic route back to Arusha, passing coffee plantations and Maasai villages, in time for your onward or international flight, where your safari concludes with unforgettable memories.

What Our Guests Say

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often.
The Grumeti crossings in the Western Corridor typically peak May-June, while the northern Mara River crossings run July-October. This itinerary is designed to follow that movement through the park, ending at the Ngorongoro Crater, which offers superb game viewing year-round. We recommend booking 6-9 months in advance for prime season dates.
On Day 6, you'll travel by road from the Serengeti south through the short-grass plains and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, game viewing en route, before climbing into the highlands to your crater-rim lodge. Our team handles all logistics and permits along the way.
We recommend neutral-coloured clothing (khakis, olives, tans) for game drives, a warm layer for cool mornings on the crater rim, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a hat, binoculars, and a camera with zoom lens. Avoid bright colours and camouflage. Nights at Ngorongoro can be notably cold, so pack a warm jacket.
Applicable Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area fees, including the crater floor descent fee, depend on your itinerary and quotation — your specialist will confirm exactly which authority charges apply to your trip. Everything is pre-arranged so you can focus on enjoying your safari.
Absolutely. The optional hot air balloon safari is available on Day 5 of your itinerary over the northern Serengeti (separately quoted). You will float over the plains at dawn followed by a champagne bush breakfast in the bush - an unforgettable experience we highly recommend.
Yes! This safari is suitable for all types of travellers. Solo travellers are welcome (single supplement applies). Families with children aged 8+ can be accommodated, and we can tailor game drive durations and activities to suit younger travellers.
