Your 6-Day Journey
From Nairobi arrival to your final morning on the coast — two wild days in Tsavo and three unhurried days by the ocean.

Arrival & First Game Drive
Depart Nairobi by road southeast toward Tsavo East, Kenya's largest national park. After lunch at camp, head out for an afternoon game drive across the open red-earth plains as elephant herds move toward the Galana River.

Full-Day Safari, Then East to the Coast
A dawn game drive to Aruba Dam and Lugard Falls, tracking Tsavo's famous red-dusted elephants alongside lion, giraffe and buffalo. After lunch, transfer by road to Watamu, arriving in time to watch the sun drop into the Indian Ocean.

Snorkelling the Coral Gardens
Board a glass-bottom boat into Watamu Marine National Park, one of East Africa's oldest protected reef systems. Snorkel among parrotfish, turtles and vivid coral gardens before an afternoon at leisure on the beach.

Mangrove Dhow Drift & Ancient Ruins
Glide by traditional dhow through the mangrove channels of Mida Creek, spotting fish eagles and wading birds. In the afternoon, wander the shaded, vine-covered 12th-century Swahili ruins of Gede before returning to the beach.

Free Beach Day & Sunset Dhow
An unstructured day on powder-white sand — swim, kayak, or simply rest under a palm-thatched banda. As evening falls, board a private dhow for a sunset cruise along the coast with chilled drinks and coastal snacks.

Farewell Coast & Departure
A final relaxed morning by the water before transfer to Malindi Airport for your short flight back to Nairobi, connecting onward to your international departure.

What Our Guests Say

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often.
The drive from Tsavo East to Watamu takes roughly 3 to 3.5 hours, timed after your morning game drive so you arrive on the coast with daylight to spare.
We recommend neutral-coloured safari layers (khakis, olives, tans) for game drives, alongside light breathable linens, swimwear and reef-safe sunscreen for Watamu. A light rain jacket is worth packing in the shoulder seasons.
Applicable Tsavo East park fees and Watamu Marine National Park entry depend on your itinerary and quotation — your specialist will confirm exactly which authority charges apply to your trip.
Yes, it's one of our most family-friendly routes. Game drives are short by safari standards, the beach days are unstructured, and Watamu's calm lagoon is gentle for younger swimmers and snorkellers.
The Kenya coast is best from June to October and December to March, outside the long rains. Water visibility for snorkelling at Watamu Marine Park is typically at its clearest from October to March.
