Your 10-Day Journey
From your arrival in Nairobi to your last swim on Zanzibar -- every day is paced for families, balancing exciting wildlife encounters with plenty of downtime for children to rest and play.

Arrival and First Game Drive
Board a short domestic flight from Nairobi into the rolling Masai Mara savannah. Settle into your family-friendly tented camp, meet your dedicated guide, then head out for a gentle afternoon game drive to spot your first zebra, giraffe, and elephant.

Big Five Game Drive and Bush Craft
A morning game drive in search of lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and rhino, timed to suit young early risers. In the afternoon, the kids join a junior ranger bush craft session -- learning to identify animal tracks and dung with a specialist guide -- while parents relax at camp.

Masai Village Visit and Sunset Drive
Visit a local Masai village for a warm cultural welcome, traditional dance, and the chance for kids to meet local children. Return to camp for lunch and a swim, then head out for a late-afternoon game drive ending with a family sundowner as the plains glow gold.

Crossing the Border to the Serengeti
Enjoy one last relaxed morning game drive before a light aircraft transfer across the border into Tanzania's endless Serengeti plains. Border formalities are handled by our team, and you'll be settled into camp in time for an afternoon game drive.

Full Day Exploring the Serengeti
A full day of family-paced game drives across the Serengeti's open plains, with plenty of stops for snacks and stories about the animals you spot along the way. A picnic lunch beneath an acacia tree makes for a memorable bush meal with the kids.

Descending into Ngorongoro Crater
Drive to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater and descend onto the crater floor, one of the safest and most family-friendly game drives in Africa thanks to its compact size and dense wildlife. Spot flamingos, hippos, and if you're lucky, a black rhino, before climbing back to your lodge on the rim.

Farewell to the Bush, Onward to the Island
Transfer to Arusha for your flight to Zanzibar, touching down on the palm-fringed island by early afternoon. Settle into your beachfront family resort with the rest of the day free to unpack, explore the grounds, and take your first dip in the Indian Ocean.

Beach Day and Kids' Club
A day at your own pace -- sink into the white sand, take a dip in the resort pool, or drop the kids at the supervised kids' club while parents enjoy a quiet lunch by the ocean. Build sandcastles, paddle in the shallows, or simply relax under a palm-thatched umbrella.

Dhow Sailing, Snorkelling and Stone Town
Set sail on a traditional wooden dhow along the coastline, stopping to snorkel over shallow coral gardens teeming with colourful reef fish (life jackets and children's snorkel gear provided). In the afternoon, take a gentle family-paced walking tour through the winding lanes of historic Stone Town.

Final Morning and Departure
Enjoy a final relaxed breakfast overlooking the ocean before your transfer to Zanzibar airport for your flight back to Nairobi. Connect onward to your international flight home, with a lifetime of family memories from bush to island.

What Our Guests Say

Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often.
This itinerary is designed for children of all ages. Most safari camps and lodges welcome children from age 4 upward on shared game drives, and our team can arrange private vehicles for families with younger children. Zanzibar is ideal for babies and toddlers too.
On Day 4 you take a light aircraft directly from the Masai Mara to the Serengeti, roughly a 45-60 minute flight. Border and immigration formalities are handled on arrival, and our team manages the paperwork throughout so the transfer is assisted throughout for the whole family.
Yes. The crater floor is one of the most family-friendly game drive settings in Africa - compact, with an exceptionally high concentration of wildlife visible without long stretches of driving, making it easier for younger children to stay engaged than a full-day open savannah drive.
For the Mara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro, pack neutral-coloured clothing, a warm layer for cool mornings, comfortable shoes, sunscreen, hats and insect repellent. For Zanzibar, bring swimwear, reef-safe sunscreen, and light beachwear. A small daypack for game drives and a soft-sided bag for the coast are both useful.
Yes. Our Zanzibar Beach Resort offers a supervised kids' club for part of each day, giving parents time to relax while children enjoy games, crafts, and pool activities. Babysitting can also be arranged directly with the resort for an additional fee.
Absolutely. We regularly tailor this itinerary for extended families and multi-generational groups, arranging connecting rooms, private vehicles, and adjusted activity pacing for grandparents or very young children. Speak to our specialists about your group's needs.
